MorDHA Prenatal

During pregnancy, the daily requirements of DHA increase, which is not easy to include in your diet especially when you are pregnant and worried about eating fish which may contain too many toxins. EPA and most importantly DHA are hugely important to the development of childrens' brains.

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) are referred to as the membrane molecule and are found in MorDHA.

The human brain consists of 60% fat, of which 20% is Omega-3 DHA. An assumption can be made that healthy levels of DHA, which is the main ingredient in MorDHA, would induce a positive effect on the brain and body.

MorDHA and Omega-3 supplements

The Omega-3 DHA in MorDHA is also very important for myelin. Myelin is the fatty cover that covers axons, fibers which extend from the brain cell and are responsible for messages within the brain to travel and communicate faster. Based on this theory, myelin which is enriched with Omega-3 DHA can allow humans to process thoughts faster and lead to smarter brains. All this said, Omega-3 DHA also has a primary role as a neurotransmitter which allows brain cells to communicate faster and accurately. A deficiency in DHA can lead to a reduction in brain function. Omega-3 DHA is a critical essential fatty acid to support and nourish fibers which can prevent debilitating diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis.

Choosing the best DHA

The Minami Nutrition fish oil supplements range have been made, predominantly to supplement 2 kinds of Omega-3 fatty acids, EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) fatty acids and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid). Minami Nutrition fish oils are highly concentrated in both Omega-3 EPA, ranging from 75% to 95%, and Omega-3 DHA, ranging from 54% for the VeganDHA and 74% for the MorDHA Prenatal and MorDHA I.Q.

It is well know that some of the other leading brands of Omega-3 supplements have as little as 35% concentrate. Although Omega-3 EPA is very much key in emotional well-being along with the well-being of your heart, Omega-3 DHA is key in the development and longevity of the brain, eyes and the fluidity of cells. MorDHA Prenatal, MorDHA Mini I.Q. and VeganDHA have been made to give enough Omega-3 DHA to you to help with the concerns that are associated with a lack of Omega-3 DHA. Each of the products are highly concentrated, to give a high level of Omega-3 DHA in just a small serving ( either one or two capsules), compared with the high amount of capsules or liquid you would need from other sources, ie. Rapeseed Oil, Soy Bean Oil, Walnut Oil, or even other DHA based supplements, to get the same amount of DHA.

MorDHA Prenatal and MorDHA Mini I.Q., along with VeganDHA are ideal supplements to help with the development of the brain, eyes and cell fluidity as Omega-3 DHA is one of their main components. The first 5 years of a child's life, along with the time when in the womb, are very important for development as these are the years when development is most critical and most rapid. It has been shown that mothers who take an Omega-3 DHA supplement have children with a higher I.Q. than those that do not have enough Omega-3 DHA in their systems. A lack of Omega-3 DHA for mothers whilst pregnant has been known to cause anti-natal depression, as the Omega-3 DHA that is produced for the mother is passed on the child, up to 67mg is needed by the child in the final 3 months of pregnancy, this figure can increase to 70mg whilst the child is breast-feeding.

DHA comes predominantly from fish oils, which creates a problem for Vegans and Vegetarians. Minami Nutrition fish oils have a product to help Vegetarians and Vegans, VeganDHA, which has a higher concentration of DHA than other sources available to vegans/vegetarians. The concentration of DHA allows for up to 300mg of Deep-Sea Algae DHA to be consumed per serving (2 capsules). Vegan/Vegetarian supplements usually convert their DHA from ALA (alpha-Linolenic acid). The problem with ALA as a source of DHA is that the conversion is very low. This is due to the ALA first having to be converted from ALA into EPA then DHA. The low conversion rate means that an awful lot of ALA has been consumed to even come close to reaching the 300mg in 2 capsules the VeganDHA can provide.

DHA and Pregnancy

Scientists have recently reached some common ground surrounding the importance of Omega-3 essential fatty acids and pregnancy, particularly DHA. Case studies have shown that pregnant mothers who supplement themselves with Omega-3 DHA, such as MorDHA, during and after their pregnancy have a healthier pregnancy with reduced chances of postpartum depression which is common amongst mothers with low DHA.

Recently, Dutch researchers assessed the effects of mothers who consume an Omega-3 DHA rich supplement against those mothers who chose not to supplement with DHA and the resulting outcome on their babies. The results showed that mothers who supplemented themselves with Omega-3 DHA produced heavier and more developed babies.

DHA and Children

Omega-3 essential fatty acids, EPA and most importantly DHA, which are found in MorDHA, are hugely important to the development of babies brains. DHA is the uppermost fat within the brain structure whilst EPA has been known to help the brain function and process more accurately. The third trimester of pregnancy is particularly important for the development of a babies brain. It is commonly known that a babies brain experiences the largest

growth phase , during the third trimester and the first two years of a babies life. DHA is a vital structural fat within the brain, meaning it is essential for babies and mothers to receive an adequate amount of DHA for optimal growth and development. Omega-3 DHA is a brain- building fat and the brain is effected in size and functionality depending on the quantity of DHA within the brain. It’s good to remember that a human infant’s brain develops and grows faster then the body , and Omega-3 DHA is at the core of this process

Omega-3 DHA accumulates during the gestation period and after birth in the brain and retina. Recent scientific studies have shown that mothers who supplement themselves with Omega-3 fatty acids rich in DHA give birth to babies who score higher on mental processing tests compared to those to negate Omega-3 DHA as an ‘essential’ fat during pregnancy. Not only this , but scientific case studies also show these children to be healthier and smarter in later years.

Scientific studies have noted that infants with low concentrations of Omega-3 DHA experience slower brain development and reduced visual activity which is a major learning tool for infants and children.

Omega-3 DHA is good for your baby and lends itself to aiding towards producing a healthier and smarter individual.
